Kvist armbands

 

Two variants from this collection. A mini version and a medium width. I've been making a catalogue for LOD this week and whilst working with a lot of different images, I realised that I haven't written about these silver armbands.  

The original drawings were based on intertwining twigs and the graphics that they created. After many re-workings, the feeling of interlocking branches has become an abstract design. There's just a hint of where the design originates from, especially when the drawings are translated into silver. I've actually never done an oxidised version of this design, but perhaps black intertwining lines would resemble the original hedges in the fog that was the beginning to this whole collection?

A new take on an old favourite

These armbands are one of my favourite designs, both to make and to wear. This is the first time that I have made bracelets from the smaller button units and there are just three in this series. Two oxidised and one in white. For some reason the white one eluded a photograph at the weekend, so it's just the oxidised ones taking precedence today.

Silver Cross with Rubies



This armband was made to order with a few specific requirements from the outset.

I enjoy working directly with customers, especially when there's a bit of creative freedom thrown in to the picture. The challenge of getting an idea down on paper that encompasses what the customer wants and designing the piece so that everything works is part of the job that I like a lot.

This little unassuming pearl necklace was created during my fascination for the Tudors, and in particular Ann Boleyn. I wanted to create something delicate with simple lines and with that colour combination for everyday use. Something reminiscent of the jewellery of that period, but with a contemporary twist.

It was only when I took a photograph of the necklace some time after, that I saw the potential of the sweeping overlapping lines constructed of tiny little pearls as it lay somewhat askew. I wanted to freeze that graphic and wear it. The silver armband below was the first product to materialise that graphic in wearable form.

A little mention goes to Klara Eriksson who froze alongside me under the bridges in Stockholm, and who took this photograph that so perfectly captures the whiteness of the silver in a concrete landscape.

A feeling from a bygone time

When I was making this bracelet at the very end of last year it made me think of something Victorian. I think it was the delicateness of the lines and the black colour of the silver. It felt like putting on something that had been created a long time ago, something to be revered.
